Help Gamers Outreach Honor Our Soldiers

On the heels of Extra Life‘s success, we want to bring some attention to another organization trying to help gamers in need. In case you weren’t aware of it yet, we have soldiers overseas. These soldiers are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, co-op partners that sacrifice everything to protect us back home. They go through grueling situations and are away from their loved ones to make sure we can live peacefully.

The 11th of November is Veteran’s day, but Gamers Outreach and their subdivision Fun For Our Troops wanted to go beyond honoring soldiers for just one day.

Gamers Outreach collects new and used video game and console donations to send video game care packages to troops serving overseas. To date, the initiative has sent 332 packages (and over 2000 games) to individual troops, units, and MWRs throughout the world to include locations such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Lybia, Kuwait, South Korea, Africa, and UAE. Gamers Outreach proudly serves all branches of the U.S. military.

To honor the sacrifice, dedication and diligence of our veterans, Gamers Outreach Foundation is pleased to honor service members through its 2nd Annual Veterans Month. Gamers Outreach will be focusing all fundraising efforts in the month of November on their military initiatives as well as contributing 25% of the funds raised to the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team.  Gamers Outreach’s military initiatives include sending video game care packages to deployed troops as well as providing portable gaming carts to VA Medical Centers.

Veterans Month requires the support of communities and organizations in order to be successful. Gamers Outreach is asking that you thank a veteran this month by providing him/her the opportunity to game by becoming involved with our activities.  In addition to collecting game donations and monetary donations, Gamers Outreach will be conducting several fundraising events throughout the month that will give individuals the opportunity to support our nation’s Veterans.

For more information on the fundraising events that Gamers Outreach will host, which include Modern Warfare 3 and Gears of War 3 tournaments, please visit this page.

You can donate money or video games, every little bit helps. Look at your gaming collection and see what you can spare, they accept everything from PS2 games to Xbox 360 titles. Thanks for reading, and for all you vets or incoming soldiers out there, thank you!
